Lima to host the world’s most important airport convention in 2026

• The Airports Council International (ACI World), together with PROMPERÚ and Lima Airport Partners (LAP), has announced that Lima will host the ACI-LAC/ACI World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA 2026) from 25 to 29 September 2026.

• The selection of the Peruvian capital recognises Peru’s growing role as a regional hub and the potential of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport as a benchmark for connectivity and modern infrastructure.

Callao, October 31, 2025 – From Toronto, during the World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA 2026), Airports Council International (ACI World), together with PROMPERÚ and LAP, announced that Jorge Chávez International Airport will host the World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA 2026), the most important global gathering for the airport and aviation industry, organised by Airports Council International (ACI World) and ACI Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC).

The event will take place from 25 to 29 September 2026 and will bring together more than 700 executives and leaders from the global airport and aviation sectors to share experiences, discuss trends and propose solutions in airport capacity, operational safety, sustainability, technological innovation and passenger experience.

The choice of Lima as the venue for WAGA 2026 marks a milestone for Peru and the region. In parallel with this event, ACI-LAC will also hold the regional meeting of airport leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean. ACI World highlighted the country’s strategic position as a hub for South America, as well as the transformation of Jorge Chávez International Airport and its leap towards becoming one of the leading airports in the region.

Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World, commented: “Joining forces with ACI-LAC and Lima Airport to bring together the global airport community reflects our commitment to the development of the region. Latin America and the Caribbean represent one of the most dynamic frontiers in aviation—with advances in smart infrastructure, biometric-enabled border control solutions, and sustainable initiatives—positioning Lima as the perfect setting to showcase the future of the sector.”

Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC, added: “Lima is a gateway to one of the most vibrant aviation regions in the world. Hosting WAGA in 2026 is a recognition of Peru’s growing role in global connectivity and a celebration of Latin America and the Caribbean’s leadership in airport innovation, sustainability and passenger experience.”

Juan José Salmón, CEO of Lima Airport Partners (LAP), said: “We are deeply honoured that Lima has been chosen to host the world’s most important airport gathering. This recognition reflects the joint commitment between the State, through PROMPERÚ, ACI, LAP and all stakeholders in the Peruvian airport sector to make Jorge Chávez a global benchmark. Jorge Chávez International Airport is ready to be the host and will demonstrate that through coordinated teamwork we can become a symbol of efficiency, innovation and collaboration for the future of aviation in Latin America.”

For its part, PROMPERÚ reaffirms the importance of attracting high-impact international events such as WAGA 2026, which decisively contribute to positioning Peru as a competitive destination on the global stage. Lima’s selection reinforces its role as a strategic hub in the region and as an ideal showcase for demonstrating the country’s ability to host world-class events.

The attraction of large-scale congresses, fairs and events drives meetings tourism (MICE), boosts the local economy, promotes knowledge exchange and strengthens Peru’s image as a strategic partner for the development of key sectors such as aviation, infrastructure and sustainability.

The designation was announced during the ACI assembly held in Toronto (Canada), where the latest industry trends were presented and Lima was confirmed as the next host city. The 2026 edition of WAGA will consolidate the new Jorge Chávez International Airport as a platform for global dialogue on the future of air transport and as a driver of economic, tourism and logistical development for Peru.

Lima Airport Partners (LAP) and PROMPERÚ reaffirm their commitment to sustainability and international collaboration, promoting Peru as a meeting point for the global aviation community.
